Florissant, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/20/2014 -- Rekha “Becky” Sharma of Florissant, Missouri will be holding a fundraiser event for her State Representative campaign on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 7 p.m. This event will be held at the Stange Law Firm, 1750 South Brentwood Blvd, Suite 401, St. Louis, MO 63144.
Former Missouri State Senator Jim Lembke will be there in her support.
Becky, who is a naturalized citizen originally from India, is the owner of a home-based retail business in Florissant. She previously worked as a financial advisor and as a substitute teacher in the Webster Groves School District. She has a bachelor of arts in political science from Washington University.
Sharma is seeking the office of state representative because of her passion for public service. She intends to make a difference in the lives of her fellow citizens by being a strong voice for them in Jefferson City. Becky believes being a naturalized citizen will give her a unique perspective in the legislature.
“Minorities and naturalized citizens tend to have very conservative values: belief in family and the value of entrepreneurship and hard work, and so on. Immigrants come from places where they don’t have it as good as we do here, and they don’t have the liberties and opportunities that we have here. They are attracted by the American dream,” she explains. “I am certainly no exception.”
If elected, Becky says her priorities will be to protect the rights and liberties of her constituents, and to ensure their economic well-being, via lower taxes and limited government. She is pro-life. Another top priority once she gets to Jefferson City is to address the environmental problems with the West Lake Landfill and Coldwater Creek. She will ensure that the responsible parties take care of the clean-up.
The primary election will be held August 5, 2014.
