The React Sidekick Looks to Change the Way People Call for Help with Connected Device

Low Energy Bluetooth device pairs with safety app and allows users to send a widespread emergency alert with the click of a button.

Seattle, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/14/2014 -- Robb Monkman and Rob Bangerter are excited to be on Kickstarter for their team’s first project. Anyone who has ever worried about his/her safety or the safety of a loved one is going to be excited about the React Sidekick, a low energy Bluetooth device that pairs with the creator’s free app putting security within reach when it counts. Robb and his team are seeking help to bring the React Sidekick into production as they begin their journey to transform the way people call for help in an emergency.

Since this team launched their app (React Mobile) over a year ago, they’ve been continually evolving their software and it’s become clear that an app alone is not enough. That’s why they’ve created the React Sidekick. Users now have peace of mind at their fingertips without the need to find their phone, unlock it and dial. They will simply press the React Sidekick button to send out a wide spread alert.

When the React Sidekick is clicked, the user’s trusted contacts will receive an emergency alert email and text message letting them know where the users are and that they need help. The React Sidekick's modular design allows users to take it with them on the go, and is perfect for people with active lifestyles.

The team includes hardware veteran Rob Bangerter who has more than 25 years of extensive experience in consumer products and created the world’s first app-enabled game accessory for the iPad. Also on the team is Josh Buesseler, an award-winning industrial designer with experience creating products for a broad range of industries, from outdoor to consumer electronics and medical markets.

The project team has completed all the milestones leading up to the tooling start including:

- Proof of concept prototype
- Final electronics engineering
- Industrial Design
- Looks like, works like prototype
- In-depth consumer testing
- CAD for molds

As soon as they reach the funding goal, they will begin making molds. If the goal is reached quickly, there is a chance that the overall project schedule may improve.
