"Voices of Opera" Brings Unique Cultural Experience to Long Island

The Cedarmore Corporation presents an unforgettable evening of Opera, Broadway, Spirituals, Jazz and Gospel by a cast of world class African-American artists.

 

Freeport, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/29/2014 -- On Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 7:00pm, the Cedarmore Corporation will present “Voices of Opera: A Soulful Celebration,” an intimate listener experience with five world renown African-American Opera artists. This unique cultural experience will take place at Zion Cathedral, 312 Grand Avenue, Freeport, NY 11520. The event is designed to expose youth and their families to music that may be outside of their normal music genres while also allowing music enthusiasts to enjoy masterfully-executed performances in the heart of Long Island.

Sponsored by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, the evening will include performances from Audrey DuBois Harris, Robert Mack, Lucia Bradford Wiggins, Brandie Sutton, and Michael Preacely. These esteemed vocalists will also be around post-show for a “Meet The Artists” reception. As an additional treat, two rising stars from Long Island schools – Kalif Jones (age 17) and Athena Allen (age 9) will also hit the stage to deliver rousing performances.

This performance brings to Freeport, critically acclaimed, world class talent that is usually only found in the great concert halls of New York City. “Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy this rare, cultural event designed for the entire family,” said Bishop Frank O.
