Provo, UT -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/30/2015 -- VAN GOGH is an upcoming venture from writer and director John Foss. He has already gained an identity in the film fraternity through his work in festivals such as Palm Springs, Vancouver, Heartland, Indianapolis, and Cannes International Film Festivals.

John Foss' upcoming short film VAN GOGH revolves around a lesser-known idea about Vincent van Gogh's death. There is a parallel opinion that Van Gogh was shot by a rowdy teenager rather than committing suicide. In the end, Van Gogh assumed complete responsibility of this accident to protect the boy, embracing his own death. The aim is to make a beautiful film and open up the possibility for a more beautiful ending to Van Gogh's life.

The short film VAN GOGH will offer a dramatic representation of some moments from the last year of his life leading up to the accident that led to his death. However, John Foss asserts that the film is not just about Van Gogh's death. "The film is more about human connection than van Gogh's death, based loosely around Vincent's own letters to his brother. It seeks neither to prove nor disprove theories, but rather presents them with overlap, adding to the conversation of an artist who continues to inspire the world," he says.

John estimates that his upcoming film will run no longer than fifteen minutes. Production will start by September or early October, and the entire project is expected to be finished by the end of this year. However, John needs external funding to complete his film. He started a Kickstarter campaign to raise necessary fund for this project. Proceeds from Kickstarter will be spent on:

- Kickstarter fees and development costs (bank fees, rewards, scripting, wardrobe design, location scouting and storyboarding).

- Production (insurance, cast, crew, set design, props, camera and equipment rentals, make-up, travel, locations, meals, etc.).

- Post-production (editing, color, mix, music, and titles).

This project will only be funded if at least $25,000 is pledged by September 5, 2015.

About John Foss
John Foss' narrative directing work has garnered attention from a number of festivals including the Heartland, Indianapolis, and Cannes International Film Festivals. Foss received his MFA in film from the renowned graduate film division at Columbia University in New York City. As an actor, Foss received formal training at the Denver Center for Performing Arts and later attended workshop at the Sundance Director's Lab and at Columbia University in New York City.
