Vancouver, BC -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/21/2014 -- Wisplite Technologies Incorporated ("WTI" or "the Company"), a developer and licensor of vaporizing technologies for the electronic cigarette, medical marijuana and homeopathic remedy industries, announced today that it has received a favorable International Preliminary Report on Patentability ("IPRP") from the International Searching Authority ("ISA") relating to its integrated electro-mechanical platform.
Collectively the Company's technologies were engineered to form a stand-alone platform for handheld battery-operated devices that vaporize liquid substances to simulate the action and effect of inhaling smoke from burning material such as tobacco and medical marijuana. Selected platform components can also be integrated into third-party vaporizing devices to improve product quality, enhance functionality and stake defensible proprietary claims.
As earlier announced, the Company commissioned an independent legal opinion which found its technology platform does not infringe upon known proprietary technologies, and consequently extended its 2011 provisional patent application with an international application pursuant to the Patent Cooperation Treaty ("PCT"). In January 2013 the ISA issued a non-binding opinion that the majority of the Company's clams are patentable, and the ISA's February 2014 International Preliminary Report on Patentability was equally favorable.
With this development, the Company intends to request special status to expedite patent examination. Concurrently, the Company will continue to advance other technologies in various stages of development, expand its authorized distributor network with electronic cigarette distributors, and investigate partnership opportunities in the rapidly evolving medical marijuana industry.
