New mothers experience great weight loss results with probiotics and counselling
New York City, N.Y, November 4, 2010 — A recent study in Finland has investigated the effects of probiotics on the waist size of new mothers to see, if combined with counselling, these friendly bacteria such as those contained in Florativia, can help to reduce fat accumulation. The researchers studies 256 pregnant women divided into three groups. They gave one group the probiotics, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and Bifidobacterium lactis, along with dietary counseling during the first trimester of pregnancy to see whether it had an effect at reducing the waist size of the new mother six months after giving birth. The other two groups were either given counselling and a placebo or received nothing at all.
The results of the study showed the percentage of women with waist sizes of 31.5 inches or more was significantly lower in the probiotic plus counseling group at 26.2%, compared with the counseling plus placebo group who were at 48.5%, and the placebo and no counseling group at 51.7 %.
James Betz, founder and CEO of Biotivia, a world leading bioceutical firm, said: The results from these studies are very encouraging and highlight the research that we have been collaborating on for the last few years into the benefits of probiotics and prebiotics. We knew that probiotics helped to stave off the effects of illness and helped with weight loss, but we have been looking at ways of introducing prebiotics and probiotics into a formula where they dont neutralize each other and can give real weight loss benefits. We have finally achieved this with Florativia, the worlds first ever probiotic and prebiotic combination.
Florativia is what scientists call a synbiotic, a complex of both probiotics and prebiotics in one supplement that work together to improve the “friendly flora” of the human intestine. It was created because a probiotic, without its prebiotic food, does not survive well in the digestive system. To ensure the the 16 billion healthy probiotics are able to thrive in the intestinal track, Florativia greatly improves the ability of the probiotics to live in the colon and remain viable where it can better eliminate the harmful bacteria.
Betz continues: Florativias 16 billion good bacteria help to keep harmful micro-organisms in check and can be useful in restoring and encouraging the good bacteria in ones intestinal tract which is a useful aid in weight loss
