Lose weight with probioticsNew York City, N.Y, June 25, 2010 —
Findings recently published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition have shown promising results to ascertain if probiotics can play an active role in helping to reduce fat and aid weight loss.
The study, carried out in Japan, recruited 87 overweight people with an average BMI of 24.2 kg/m2 to participate in their double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled intervention trial. The participants were randomly assigned 200 grams of fermented milk, with or without probiotics, per day for 12 weeks.
At the end of the study, significant decreases were observed in the probiotics group in body weight, BMI, waist circumference and in the hips. The control group showed no significant reductions.
James Betz, founder and CEO of bioceutical firm, Biotivia said: “These results are extremely encouraging and confirm a lot of our own recent research into prebiotics and probiotics.”
Biotivia have been working on a formula containing a combination of both prebiotics and probiotics for the past 20 months. The company has recently launched their much anticipated product, Florativia.
“Most people have heard of probiotics, but those friendly bacteria actually need prebiotics to help them flourish,” added Betz. “Prebiotics help to increase the effectiveness of good bacteria and also reduce harmful bacteria. They carry great benefits such as aiding in digestion, reducing bloating and creating a healthy gut. Recent research shows that they can also help with the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome.”
Betz continues: “Predictions show there will be over 1.7 billion overweight people worldwide by 2015. So the increase in prebiotics and probiotics can have the potential to save lives and health costs. The estimated health costs stand at over $117 billion per year in the US alone so taking control of this situation now is of paramount importance.”
To celebrate the launch of their new prebiotic/probiotic formula, Biotivia are giving away a free bottle of Bioforte V30 cap with every purchase of Florativia. To qualify for this offer, please insert the coupon code “BIOFORTE30” at the checkout. It will be valid until 18th July 2010.
