New study finds that resveratrol can help with insulin sensitivity

For the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, the scientists selected 19 diabetic men and women, who had no other health problems. Each of the participants was randomly assigned an oral supplement of 5mg resveratrol, taken twice daily, or a matching placebo for four weeks.
The researchers took blood and urine samples at baseline, the end of the second week, and upon completion of the 4-week trial. The researchers measured and statistically analysed insulin resistance/sensitivity, incretin levels and glucose metabolism.
The researchers noted that after the fourth week “resveratrol significantly decreased insulin resistance” while it simultaneously increased glucose metabolism and decreased oxidation.
A Biotivia spokesperson welcomed these results, saying: “It is fantastic to see more human studies taking place into the health applications of resveratrol. We have been involved in a similar glucose intolerance study with the Albert Einstein Medical Center using our Transmax resveratrol, and this to came back with very positive results.”
Transmax is Biotivia’s best selling resveratrol supplement. Each capsule contains 500mg of 98% pure trans-resveratrol and contains no inert fillers or additives. Resveratrol first came to light when Dr Sinclair of Harvard published his well received article on how this molecule could activate the signalling pathways of the SIRT1 gene, an anti-aging process that extends the cells life.
Biotivia went onto say: “We hope that the results from this Hungarian study will provide more confidence to medical research organisations to further look into the potential healing applications of resveratrol. We are involved with several medical research organisations who are investigating resveratrols effect on Thalasemia, cognitive function and type 2 diabetes; with the results being published in the near future which we hope will all be positive.

Biotivia most recently signed an agreement to supply Transmax to the University of Ferrara for use in three human clinical trials in Italy and Egypt on its possible use by Thalassemia sufferers as an alternative to the whole blood transfusions which such patients now require monthly. The Albert Einstein Medical College published a study which elucidated the beneficial effects of Biotivia’s proprietary resveratrol on glucose tolerance and mitochondria function in pre-diabetic subjects. Bioforte was also shown to more than double brain blood flow in a study done at the University of Northumbria in the UK.
Biotivia’s resveratrol products, Transmax and Bioforte, have been independently assessed by a leading American quality watchdog, and were deemed both ‘most potent’ and ‘best value’. Transmax has been certified as an investigational drug by the NIH, an endorsement of its safety and purity.
