Book, journal and workbook help dieters find needed strength

Visalia, CA, June 11, 2010 — Sue A. Davis has been overweight since the fourth grade. She has cheated on every diet she’s been on, and she has tried them all. She still thinks they’re valid – they’re just missing a vital component.

“You can have the best-laid diet plan in the world. But if you’re not prepared to handle the feelings of discouragement, jealousy, dissatisfaction and all the other negative emotions we all experience, you may not be able to overcome these stumbling blocks to whatever your weight-loss program is,” Davis says.

She explains the missing ingredient in her new book, “Fighting Diet Demons,” published by AuthorHouse.

“The book is about faith-based weight loss and stewardship training. God says our bodies are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made.’ He loves us wherever we are in our weight-loss program, and we need to love ourselves.”

The eight-week “Fighting Diet Demons Journal” offers a daily prayer along with suggested acceptable foods for the day. It includes a weekly self-measurement chart and graph, and a place for confessions and prayers for God’s help.

The “Fighting Diet Demons Self-Portrait Workbook” includes six weeks of activities designed to create a self-portrait of the reader, as well as goals, how to plan meals and helpful Scriptures.

“Spirituality is the key ingredient to weight loss. It’s low-calorie and good for you,” Davis says.

About the author

Sue A. Davis was born in LaCrosse, Wisc., and grew up on an island “smack dab in the middle of the Mississippi River backwaters between Minnesota and Wisconsin.” She earned a college degree in electroneurodiagnostics and has been a medical transcriptionist for 15 years.

Now living in Visalia, Calif., with her husband, Davis, she drives a 900 Vulcan motorcycle when she’s not riding her 17-year-old appaloosa gelding. She uses her own power tools to “build stuff” when she’s not decorating her new home or running a part-time cookie business.

Davis has three children and five grandchildren, two stepchildren and six step-grandchildren.

Davis already has had two pilot programs using her books and is working on a facilitator manual for Bible study church programs.
