Sprint Nextel and Goodby Silverstein & Partners have worked together since 2007, but the wireless company thinks they need new and fresh thinking.

So Sprint Nextel fired Goodby and is moving to Publicis Groupe.

This is a big move. Will it work?

If Sprint can understand the changing marketplace, the changing opportunities and the changing challenges and risks, and if they and their new agency can develop the right strategy, perhaps they can strike the right cord.

Sprint was growing for a few years, but during the last year or two they have been struggling once again.

Is it the fault of the agency or the client? That is the big question I have.

We’ll see what happens as things change at Sprint Nextel. We’ll have to wait and see what comes next from this company.

Sprint Chief Marketing Officer Mark Schweitzer has his hands full.
