Sprint Nextel In Trouble w Cable Television Partners | Jeff Kagan Tech Analyst

While we haven’t heard anything official yet, Sprint Nextel and their cable television partners like Comcast and Time Warner may be about to break up.

This could spell rough times ahead for Sprint Nextel.

I say this because we thought Sprint Nextel was partners with the cable television industry over the last several years. Companies like Comcast and Time Warner have partnered with Sprint Nextel on wireless initiatives.

Unfortunately that was a failure.

Now we see SpectrumCo, which is the cable television group selling it’s wireless spectrum to Verizon, not Sprint Nextel.

That makes no sense if the cable television industry continues to do business with Sprint Nextel going forward.

That’s why I think we will see the cable television industry with companies like Comcast and Time Warner move away from Sprint Nextel and toward Verizon Wireless.

This would be another big blow to Sprint Nextel and will affect their performance.

The cable television industry want’s to expand their offerings and see’s wireless as a place to be. Unfortunately they have not been successful in wireless so far.

Will they be more successful with Verizon than with Sprint? What does this mean for their partnership with Clearwire?

There are still lot’s of questions on the table, but things look like they are about to change,
