The Good and Bad With This Tracfone, StraightTalk, Sprint Nextel Smart Phone Deal

I learned Straight Talk will use Sprint Nextel network for their move into smart phones.
This is good news on many fronts.
First it means TracFone and Straight Talk users will have the ability to choose from an increasing number of smart phones.
Second it means Sprint Nextel will have another growing wholesale customer to strengthen their growing business.
The only problem with this is TracFone likes to keep the networks it uses a secret.
On one hand it makes sense to build their brand giving the customer the impression they operate their own network.
On the other hand customers need to know the network they will be using. Many customers have learned all networks are not created equal. They have learned the hard way that one works better than another where they use the phone.
There are countless times when a customer has stronger signal from one carrier than another at their home or work or wherever they spend time.
So customers need to be able to choose the network they do business with.
That goes against what TracFone wants to do with their brand, however since they do business with so many different networks, the customer should know what they are choosing.
Each phone should be labeled with the network it uses. That would make it easier for each customer to make the right choice for them. That could make every customer a happy customer.
That would benefit TracFone as well since they would have happy customers and that is the true way to build a brand.
