Many new items of technology and changes in industries are expected in 2012. Much of these new ideas come from THE CLOUD. The cloud is the next Wave of competition in the industry. The cloud is how companies intertwine with customers in order to hang onto them. Get customers tangled in your cloud and you hang onto them.

Here are a few of the more interesting changes we can expect this year… as of today.

Apple will enter the television space with iTV. They have not announced the name. This is my best guess. Apple iTV will compete with cable television and phone company IPTV and change the entire industry. This may be just like what we saw with the iPod, iPhone and iPad. The cloud is the key idea.

Google will roll out their first smart phone with Motorola through acquisition. This is separate from Android which partners with multiple handset makers. This competition will be interesting. They failed a few yeas ago at first try. Will this succeed? What about Google TV?

Microsoft will roll out their new smart phones with Nokia as a partner. They tried several times over the last decade and failed. This could be a success. We’ll see.

Amazon.com will roll out their first smart phone along with their hot Kindle and compete more head to head with Apple in their own cloud.

Verizon will expand beyond telephone, wireless, Internet and television. They will get into the Netflix type business and maybe even acquire Netflix in the process.

And much more. Keep your eyes open. The world is changing and tech is in the drivers seat.
