A recent study led by Karissa D. Horton, of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at The University of Texas at Austin, examined the role that religion plays in coping with quitting smoking. The study monitored 963 college students who reported their levels of positive or negative religious coping, depressive symptoms and cigarette use in the month prior to the study.

The FDAheld a public hearing on Section 918 on Monday, December 17, 2012. The FDA will use testimony given at the December meeting along with all written comments submitted by January 16, 2013 as input for the report to Congress on the Tobacco Act.

A Utah legislator thinks there should be laws against smoking in vehicles while children are present. Rep. Arent’s legislation would not actually allow police to pull someone over for the offense but would allow for a secondary citation to be issued for smoking if the motorist was pulled over for an initial cause.
