Recent news has seen the increased publicising of prolific handwritten letters – including the rapper Eminem's letter to the mother of the late rapper Tupac Shakur. Eminem, which is the stage name of Marshall Bruce Mathers III, apparently took to letter writing to express the intensity of his feelings regarding how Tupac inspired him and the significance of his music.

Reports regarding the arrival of two identical election envelopes at certain addresses has led to extensive confusion in some areas of England. Whilst one envelope contained ballot papers for district council elections and the general election, the other contained papers and information, regarding town council elections. Thus the contents of both envelopes are important, but their identical nature has led to some being torn up or even disposed of in the belief that they are duplicates rather than separate documents.The issue of identical envelopes is estimated to be affecting those in the Newbury and Thatham areas – up to 7,000 postal voters.
