Dan Gulf Made a Review of Modelling and Optimization

The sector of building and infrastructure is accountable for 46% of the total worldwide energy consumption.

Pas Al-Khaimah, UAE -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/06/2017 -- Most traditional energy sources such as coal or oil are among the non-renewable types and they are most likely to be depleted in the decades. To solve the current energy crisis, use of renewable energy such as solar sources and a considerable increase in energy efficiency are proposed as the potential solutions. In particular, district heating systems (DHS) have recently received more attention due to a number of advantages in the production, distribution and consumption of energy for space heating.

The actual document examines the latest achievements in the field of energy production, modeling and optimization of the DHSs. Classification of energy sources was made in terms of their sustainability and ease of integration into a DHS. Modern modeling methods can be compared in respect to computational limitations, the level of precision as well as the degree of certainty in the output level. In addition, the most recent DHS studies are classified according to optimization goals, including energy / energy efficiency, cost, eco-economic / thermo-economic and greenhouse gas (GHG) and pollutant production.

A flat solar water heating system and solar photovoltaic system are two mature technologies available on the commercial market, which can significantly reduce the energy demand in residential premises. Several research organizations are working on solar PV/T system to make it competitive to a solar thermal system and solar PV system. Innovative designs over the decades have improved the performance of the solar PV/T collector significantly. Nevertheless, the choice of material-of-construction play a vital role in reducing the mass, cost, embodied the energy and embodied CO2 emissions of the solar PV/T collector. In this article, the solar system PV / T-based water heating was compared with a solar photovoltaic system and a flat solar water heating system (SWH), based on economic evaluation and environmental assessment. The results we achieved showed us that the solar PV / T system has the best ratio of the solar system and solar photovoltaic system, because of the higher overall efficiency, being competitive compared to the solar thermal system. In addition, this is the best way to use the existing internal roof, minimize the amount of building materials and the payback period. In addition, the embodied energy and the embodied CO2 emission of the PV / T collector is less than the other two solar energy systems combined.
