Darnestown, MD -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/09/2014 -- Dr. Brooke, Head of School at Seneca Academy, a leading and only International Baccalaureate Primary Years program in Montgomery County, traveled to Northern India in early August to forge relations with an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program.

On their two weeks journey Dr. Brooke Carroll, and her lovely daughter, a 12-year-old June graduate of Seneca Academy were asked to visit Akal Academy in Baru Sahib, Himachal Pradesh and provide workshops for teachers and students as well as to develop a long-term relationship between the two schools.

“This was a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with students, teachers and administrators in another country,” said Dr. Carroll.

“As an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program World School, we promote international-mindedness, which means we encourage our students to be open-minded, principled, knowledgeable thinkers and communicators. We also promote being risk-takers. Akal Academy has developed a curriculum that is similar to ours, with similar goals for their students. Enabling Seneca Academy students to interact with Indian students half a world away who are studying similar units will be priceless. I’m also always happy to support schools who are implementing this wonderful IB program.”

Dr. Carroll stated that Akal Academy will be the second “Buddy School” for Seneca Academy as they are currently connected to a school in Wasilla, Alaska. She hopes to add a third school in South America soon.
