Watertown, WI -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/23/2015 -- John Droy of Droyd Industries has invented, tested, and patented a new energy technology that is green and relatively harmless. In order to start his business in Scotland to promote and produce alpha particle batteries and generators, Droy has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds.
Droy's excitement is well understood "With just 0.05g of non-fissile (non-explosive) Thorium-228, I have calculated that for two years a device costing $350 the size of a DVD case folded in half can output 39.1 Amps, at 48 Volts resulting in 1876.8 watts of power! With more radioactive material, you can get outputs of upwards 100,000 Watts!"
"I dropped out of college to research radiation and physics on my own for four months going to the Georgia Technical Institute library in Atlanta, Georgia to find resources. After drawing up concepts of what could turn the kinetic energy of radiation into electrical energy, I began working for 6 months on getting parts and building and testing this device," says Droy. The original device was made up of solar cell materials and other concocted pieces from his imagination. He used alpha radiation emitted from Americium-241 he retrieved from smoke detectors to prove the concept. From these original devices, Droy produced 300mV of direct current electricity from a button of material with only 2 percent of the active Americium-241.
Droy plans to use his own money and the Kickstarter funds to build this prototype to finish his research on its development. He is now working on a website that will be completed once he receives funding and is starting a business, Droyd Industries, in the United Kingdom that will benefit from green energy advocates throughout Europe. The current target markets for the alpha particle energy generator are businesses and residences in the United States, United Kingdom and Europe whose owners want to switch to a more sustainable and reliable green energy source. Further research will work toward making the alpha particle battery smaller and more portable so that it can be used in a wide variety of devices. He has also mentioned there being 3 other technologies that are in progress that he claims are "JUST as amazing" as this one.
