Boston, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/05/2014 -- We believe that although Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will remain less successful than many of their Central and Eastern European peers, these Baltic countries will see a significant upswing in their tourism sectors over the next few years, largely owing to the development of inter-regional tourists who are benefiting from higher incomes. We believe that the Lithuanian accommodation sector will be a particular outperformer.

The increasing number of hotels in Estonia and Lithuania is likely to continue throughout our forecast period. Central and Eastern Europe is currently perceived as offering extremely attractive investment opportunities for hotel groups and other tourist-related industries - largely owing to an expansion in domestic and regional tourism, supported by an increase in higher disposable incomes. We believe that the country's tourism industry will also benefit from the significant transport infrastructure investment, particularly in Latvia and Lithuania, where there are a number of road and rail projects that will not only improve domestic networks but also facilitate overland tourist arrivals from neighbouring countries.

We are not surprised that the Baltic region has become an investment target for businesses involved in the tourism industry. In addition, the current instability in Spain, Italy and Greece has the potential to result in a migration of tourists from these destinations to more stable countries in central Europe.
