Kidplayhouse Productions Seeks Funding via Indiegogo to Rent a Studio Space for One Year

Kidplayhouse Productions is a nonprofit performing arts school seeking studio funding for special needs kids programs.

Miramichi, NB -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/27/2014 -- Glenn Copeland is the Director of a not-for-profit performing arts school, Kidplayhouse Productions Inc. with a strong social focus. They provide programs for children, youth and adults including those with special needs and challenges, whether physical or developmental. Their programs and performances are inclusive, allowing all children to express important aspects of their own creativity, and share it. “Children with special challenges are often excluded from these creative opportunities, and our communities are poorer for it.” Copeland explains.

Kidplayhouse Productions needs 'bridge financing' for a studio space for one year. They are in the process of applying for charity status to allow them to issue tax receipts for contributors in the future. This can take a year to get. Once this status is obtained, funding will be more attractive to potential donors and companies. They need, however, to obtain a studio this fall that is wheelchair accessible, large enough to run theatre programs, and house all their equipment.

Kidplayhouse Productions would rent a less expensive studio if it was available in their town, but it is not. For several years they rented inexpensive, multi purpose space from churches and other community halls. But these required packing and removing all equipment after each class. Kidplayhouse now has too much equipment to make this option feasible. Their current studio is not, nor can be made, wheelchair accessible. It also has other serious impediments.

The funding goal for this project is $53,000.
