MadFun Says Creativity Is the Latest Kiddie Party Trend

With parents willing to pay the big bucks, imagination is the limit in today’s kids’ parties. Melbourne party planner MadFun says this gives kids a chance to indulge in creative, customised fun.

Wantirna South, Victoria -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/24/2014 -- Children’s birthday parties have morphed from the simple, home-based occasions into elaborate and prestigious events complete with themes and anything from limos to exclusive, one-day affairs. Today, children’s parties are no longer just party hats and cake but are taking on variously creative forms. Creativity has been the key element in children’s birthday parties then and now. Only with kids’ parties nowadays, anything goes and more often than not goes all out, no expense spared parents willing. With most parents indeed willing to shell out, kiddie parties are rapidly moving out of the home to a wide range of fully customised celebrations.

Most children’s birthday celebrations today are held at a venue, which largely does the organising, including setup and post-party cleanup, after a bit of collaboration with a parent or other contact person. Themed parties are usually done in such places, with the theme planned around one of the young celebrant’s current interests, whether a favourite movie, fictional character, or activity. Wildly popular themes today include all manner of super heroes and movies like Disney’s Frozen. The theme is taken to quite literal extents from elaborate wall decorations, to the birthday cake, down to the party favours given at the end of the party.

Kids’ birthday parties have also begun shifting away from the traditional format requiring an emcee and a preset entertainment programme. More and more kids are now celebrating their birthdays as exclusive bookings say, at a children’s gym offering rock climbing, skating and soccer. If not, the birthday event is held at a yoga studio or family disco. Some parents book their kids reservations for a few hours playing at a sports stadium, getting pampered at a children’s spa, having high tea at a luxe hotel, or being moved around the city Hollywood-style in a Humvee limousine. Special shindigs that are also now offered include activities where kids can get creative. Such services allow kids to make their own green-screen movie, don a pizzas or cupcakes in complete chef’s attire, and paintings or sculptures.

Melbourne-based party organiser MadFunTM recognises the dilemma of today’s parents. They have the desire to make their child feel special on their day but lack the time to organise the necessary preparations. ‘This shift in the way children’s parties are being celebrated is definitely ground-breaking’, Lilly Deane, party and events consultant at MadFunTM, said. ‘Children get to become their beloved characters or engage in their favourite activities on their special days. All this creativity has enabled parents to take their wish of making their children special to greater and unprecedented heights.’
