The controllers and generators designed and manufactured by Magnatek, with voltages up to 250kV and more than 1kW power are installed and used in a vast array of applications in industrial, medical and scientific communities. Magnetek has supplied the medical and industrial sector with more than 3000 X-ray sources, and are constantly developing new X-ray products for customers. The applications range from nondestructive inspection tasks, such as mechanical parts inspection, CT scanning and food inspection to bone densitometry, thickness gauging, material analysis, material sorting, fully automatic X-ray inspection machines, radiometry and so much more.

An optimal X-ray design is very technology intensive and requires a combination of experiences with high voltage design, heat transfer, power- and control electronics, radiation physics and manufacturing know-how, hence Magnatek has developed a building block system based on standard components, which enables the development and making of small series (5-10) of customized integrated X-ray sources within a few months and at reasonable prices.

Magnatek basically deals on 3 products namely: Integrated X-ray sources which are very compact and light monoblocks integrating the X-ray tube with the high voltage generator. The product line ranges from 20 KV to 160 KV, can be based on Metal Ceramic or Glass X-ray tubes. Secondly, the HT generator for X-ray tube heads (Microfocus) and then the Building blocks for X-ray sources.

At Magnatek's facilities, tests on the performance of new X-ray sources together

with X-ray sensitive detectors and PC controlled scanning devices are also carried out. The first feasibility studies of several customers' successful projects have also been started in Magnatek's laboratory.
