Although PMI is the clear leader in the market, accounting for around a third of sales, BAT's Prilucky Osoblyvi brand leads with around a 9% share although indications for 2013 suggest it has now been overtaken by JTI's Winston and PMI's Bond Street.

The regulatory climate is becoming increasingly restrictive, with three major changes occurring towards the end of 2012: a complete ban on advertising (September), the introduction of graphic on-pack warnings (October) and a ban on smoking in the majority of enclosed public spaces (December). There are also proposals to raise excise duty further in 2014.
