Racial Inequality in the Workplace Has Worsened in the Last Ten Years: Employment Law Solicitor Comments

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/22/2015 -- Despite ethnic minorities often out-performing white British students in education and offering great skills for employment, over the last decade, racial inequality in the workplace has grown worse. This is the result of findings from The Runnymede Trust, a UK charity, which found that over the course of the 2000s, there were increases in employment ethnic inequalities in more than a third of districts in England and Wales. This inequality has happened in a number of unfortunate circumstances – with the worst including cases of outright discrimination and harassment.

Cities such as Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol were amongst those which held the greatest gulf in employment outcomes between people of ethnic minority background and white British citizens. This inequality was also reported as manifesting itself physically in a surprising number of unfortunate incidents. This included employees of an ethnic minority being name-called, spat at and even attacked.

That such ethnic discrimination still continues in workplaces in the UK is an urgent issue – an injustice which must be addressed. A prime example of a legal team working within the field to try and help those affected is Employment Law Solicitor. They hold extensive experience in working to achieve justice for those affected by discrimination in the workplace, and frequently reflect on industry news. A spokesperson had this to say:

"Employees have a right to equal treatment in their place of work and to all should be allowed the same opportunities – without discrimination. The study by The Runnymede Trust has revealed highly concerning information, implying that discrimination in employment has even reached levels of racial abuse. It is completely unacceptable that people have had to face such treatment and those affected are entitled to legal support. We strive to offer an accessible, informative employment law service which helps to achieve justice for people who have faced unjust treatment in a place where they should be valued. We hope that others are doing the same."
