Free Biomass Workshop Offered in Honesdale

Mayfield, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/28/2011 -- The Pocono Northeast Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council, a non-profit organization committed to the preservation and protection of natural resources within a framework of economic growth, announced today that it is holding a free workshop on how to produce and use biomass fuel.

The workshop, entitled “Go Green With Biomass,” will be held Tuesday, July 26, at 7:00 PM at the Wayne County Conservation Office, 648 Park Street, Honesdale, PA. The workshop is free to attend and refreshments will be provided.

“The RC&D Council has a tradition of bringing quality educational programs to residents of our 10-county area,” said Brian Oram, PNE RC&D Council Chairman. “As fuel and heating costs continue to rise, biomass will become more important. This program can benefit the farmers that can provide it and the home and business owners who may one day rely on it.”

Farm and forest owners will learn about growing and producing new fuels such as switch grass and wood leftovers, while homeowners will have the opportunity to learn about non-fossil fuels for heat with minimal carbon pollution. Speakers covering these topics will be Bob Thomas, Paul Reining, Bob Muller, and Phil Buckingham.
