IGSSS is a Non-Governmental Organization, established in 1960, that works with a vision to empower the poor and marginalized sections of society. IGSSS works across four core areas in 21 states of India: Sustainable Livelihood, Youth Development, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Urban Poverty.

 

Delhi, India -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/03/2012 -- Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS) is an Indian development support organization established in 1960, that works with a vision to empower the poor and marginalized sections of society. Although the term, NGO or non-governmental organization means any organization that is not controlled or managed by a government, it has been increasingly used and understood to large and small agencies or groups that work towards some sort of development for a community. Non-governmental organization, or NGO, is an officially comprised organization created by normal or authorized persons that operates autonomously from any government.

IGSSS works across four core areas in 21 states of India: Sustainable Livelihood, Youth Development, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Urban Poverty. In all the above four core areas Gender and building leadership at the community level and the Non-Government Organization Development India level are the strategic focus. The term is mostly applied to such organizations working in developing and low-income countries while in the west, the word, ‘nonprofit’ is more popular. IGSSS are funded by private donors & international agencies. The main areas of concern for this organizations include Health, Housing, Sanitation Food and providing other needs and basic facilities. There is also the issue of Gender inequality, HIV AIDS support and the Adult care as well as charity. IGSSS is health based, improving the livelihood of most India who live below the poverty line.
