Fashion Afternoon Teas:

The perfect way to celebrate the festive season is with The Peninsula Chicago’s “Fashion Afternoon Tea.” On select dates* throughout November and December, The Lobby will serve Afternoon Tea paired with a fashion show featuring some of Chicago’s finest boutique and retailers. With seatings at 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm, The “Fashion Afternoon Tea” is US$ 42 per person or US$ 50 when accompanied by a glass of Champagne and includes a variety of proprietary teas or blend coffee as well as a selection of fine pastries, scones, quiches and finger sandwiches. The Traditional Afternoon Tea continues to be served daily with live string music accompaniment.

Children’s Holiday Afternoon Teas:

Children will delight in the special Holiday Afternoon Teas, designed with Peninsula’s youngest guests in mind. Offered in Avenues from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on select dates throughout December*, children are invited to participate in holiday cookie decorating, Mrs Claus holiday story telling, a visit from Santa and much more. Following the festive activities, children will enjoy an Afternoon Tea menu created just for them. Adults may also savor a special Afternoon Tea menu with Champagne while their children participate in the activities. The Holiday Afternoon Tea is priced at US$ 50 per adult or child. Thanksgiving Day Buffet

On November 24, 2011 The Peninsula Chicago’s Executive Chef Kai Lermen and his team will present an abundance of seasonal ingredients in a magnificent Thanksgiving Day buffet. Families and friends can enjoy the Thanksgiving feast in The Lobby and Avenues restaurants overlooking Michigan Avenue. In both restaurants, the menu will feature traditional holiday delights alongside unique items from Chef Kai’s extensive repertoire with an array of stations offering mouthwatering favorites such as traditional Gunthorp Farm roasted turkey, chestnut-sage stuffing, braised veal shank, three peppercorn-roasted prime strip and California sturgeon loin.

The hotel’s culinary team will also prepare butternut squash in a variety of cooking styles; charcuterie and cheese featuring a selection of artisanal cheeses and specialty meats; and a sushi station with specialty rolls, sashimi and sushi prepared throughout the day. In addition, numerous salads, an artisan sausage station and Asian specialties such as Peking duck will give the occasion an exotic, international flavor.

Guests with a sweet tooth can choose from pastries, assorted verrines, macarons, home-made candy, pies, tarts and other seasonal goodies. Throughout the day, the traditional holiday warmth of The Peninsula Chicago will be enhanced by entertainment from a live jazz quartet. The Thanksgiving Day buffet includes a children’s lounge with menu items that appeal to young ones, and also features activities, games, movies, and a magician. Menu items include mini burgers, chicken fingers and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Christmas Eve Dinner

For an early Christmas present, food lovers can dine at The Peninsula Chicago with a succulent menu in The Lobby. Enjoy the sounds of a live jazz trio and carolers at this Chicago Magnificent Mile hotel (http://www.peninsula.com/Chicago/en/Destination/default.aspx) while savoring a prix-fixe, three-course dinner featuring such items as scallop ceviche, beet ravioli, quail duo, New York strip steak with chanterelles and more. New Year’s Eve Gala

Dance the night away and ring in 2012 at The Peninsula Chicago’s New Year’s Eve black tie gala in The Lobby. Guests will begin their evening with a welcome reception at the Chicago luxury hotel (http://www.peninsula.com/chicago/en/default.aspx) from 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm followed by an exciting four-course dinner menu with optional wine pairing in an upbeat atmosphere. After dinner, celebrations will continue to the sounds of Ken Arlen’s premier 13-piece big band, “Soul Motion.” As midnight approaches, guests will celebrate the New Year with a balloon drop, midnight toast, dancing and revelry. Dinner and dancing is US$ 275 per person, or US$ 350 per person with wine pairings. Prices do not include tax and gratuity.

Shanghai Terrace will serve an à la carte Shanghainese and Cantonese menu as well as a celebratory New Year menu created by Chef de Cuisine Ivan Yuen and his team.
