Mountain Bike Race Organizer Scott Tucker Is Glad April Has Arrived

This is the fifth year of racing on Dry Hill and according to race organizer Scott Tucker there is no other place to ride.

Port Angeles, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/11/2012 -- Downhill mountain bike racers will be flocking to Port Angeles, WA. during the next few weeks as the Northwest Cup Series gets under way. The cream of downhill mountain bike racing crop will be heading to the peninsula as the first three rounds of the 2012 Northwest Cup Presented by Diamondback are all held on Dry Hill, Port Angeles throughout April and May.

This is the fifth year of racing on Dry Hill and according to race organizer Scott Tucker there is no other place to ride, Tucker went on to add that they are fortunate that they have the only track available this time of year. It's not only local riders who will be coming to Dry Hill for the start of the season and the North West Cup, in addition to the North West Cup entries, there will be four riders who regularly compete on the World Cup Circuit visiting Dry Hill to get an early season tune up.

Scott Tucker went on to add that we have the same kind of tracks they use on the World Cup Circuit, so this is a good training zone as they wait for the World Cup Circuit to open for the season. There will be many visitors to the peninsula over the next month or so accompanying friends and family who are riding in the races; they will be in for a treat when they witness the outstanding natural beauty of Port Angeles.

The Dry Hill course also attracts many riders from further afield because the low elevation means there usually isn't any snow on Dry Hill come early April. Although there was some snow last week Scott Tucker was happy to see that it didn't hang around for long, adding that the snow and ice don't stick around long at this time of year, though. Even though most racers don't enjoy the snow, nearly every single one of them loves the mud, and even though the track is famously named Dry Hill, we doubt it will be dry for some time.
