Anse Takamaka, Praslin -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/06/2012 -- Raffles Praslin Seychelles received the Certificate of Recognition for Wetland Protection by the Seychelles Ministry of Environment, for the hotel’s efforts in conserving the protected environment.

As part of its commitment towards the environment, this Seychelles hotel (http://www.raffles.com/praslin/) established a partnership with the Seychelles National Park Authority for the treatment of Takamaka trees: endemic species of local tree with a high level of recognition which forms an integrant part of Seychelles’ heritage and culture. The partnership also endeavours working on developing the public beach promenade with local trees and patrimonial ruins’ signage to increase awareness among the community and guests.

Simon Hirst, General Manager commented: “Located on an island which is rich in fauna, flora, and heritage sites, Raffles Praslin has made one of its priorities to protect and maintain these natural resources. Our resort aims to offer luxury in a sustainable context, enriching the guests’ experience while implementing environmental initiatives.”

The luxury Seychelles resort is committed to protecting the environment by working year-round on energy conservation and monitoring, water conservation campaigns, recycling centres, internal training for team members, regular cleaning days, protecting natural fauna and flora, and the creation of a Green Committee.

Raffles Praslin is also taking part in the global environmental movement “Earth Day” by organizing an event involving team members and residents in the plantation of trees around the resort. The event aims at developing endemic species of flora around the Seychelles resort (http://www.raffles.com/praslin/locations-and-attractions/hotel-information/) and raising environmental awareness among the community.
