Many High-Street retail stores are bracing itself for Thanksgiving Day, 2015 in order to avoid the chaotic days of Black Friday’s melodramatic scenes in 2014.
Singapore -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/20/2015 -- Will 2015 be the year when the craze of Black Friday is ultimately dethroned from being the largest shopping day of people's life? The leading retailers and supermarkets of UK think so. According to RetailWeek - a company that measures supermarket's and retail store traffic during the holiday season, states that "Black Friday has ruled as the King of the Holiday shopping season – every year within the last decade by getting the most sales & deals on that day. However, its supremacy has started to deteriorate as more supermarket chains have scheduled to be opened on this Thanksgiving.
Many leading UK retail stores like Asda group, John Lewis, Harrods, Currys and others has already declared that it'll open at 6 p.m. on this Thanksgiving season. While some retailers still haven't yet declared their hours for this day, but it assumes that more will follow soon.
Rather, it's believed that Dec. 19, the last Saturday before Christmas Eve, frequently known as the Super Saturday, to be the busiest shopping day in 2015 in terms of sales. Whereas Black Friday may slide at No. 2 position followed by the day after-Christmas, which falls on Friday when lots of people must be off from work. This year's Thanksgiving night openings aren't leading to a global bump in this year sales, they're simply stealing sales from Black Friday.
So how strong will the Holiday shopping season be this season? Another firm called DealsAlert may finalize its outlook within the next week; however, it is expecting it to stay in the range of 2.5 to 3.5 % boost from past year in in-store sales. That's a little less than the National Retail Federation that has released a positive outlook of 4.1 % boost for holiday sales.
