The Green Flash: Compelling Period Novel, Hidden in Family Trunk for 55 Years, Proves Bold Power of Nature's Miracles

Masterfully crafted by Dr. Glenn Cosh, ‘The Green Flash’ tells the gripping and thought-provoking story of a Korean War Air Force Veteran’s insurmountable struggle to come to grips with life, love and the tortures of his past. While Cosh has only just released his novel to the world, he drew its original inspiration from an optical phenomenon witnessed atop a Mexican lighthouse five decades previously. After rediscovering his original notes in a family trunk, Cosh set to work to turn his spark of an idea into a literary masterpiece with vital message about humanity’s hard choices.

Denver, CO -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/16/2015 -- In the late 1950s, while part of a scientific mission to investigate a large uninhabited coral reef off the coast of Cozumel, Dr. Glenn Cosh and his team would climb to the top of a local lighthouse at the same time each evening, to witness what they coined "the green flash". This brief but awe-inspiring green blip, occurring just after the sun went down and coinciding with the evening roost of local seabirds, couldn't be explained – but it was a miracle of nature that would change Cosh's life.

Overcome with inspiration and creativity, Cosh began compiling notes for a powerful story based around nature's miracles; fifty-five years later and only after finding those same notes bundled up in a family trunk, the novel is on the shelves.

Aptly titled 'The Green Flash', Cosh's creation explores the grey area between the pain of life's hard choices and the natural, often unexplained miracles that can temper them.

Synopsis:

Following the Korean War, Air Force veteran Carl Wolf longs to replace the tortured memories of his fighter-pilot past with a quiet life dedicated to marine science. But despite the tranquility of his surroundings, his past always keeps him at arm's length from the emotional connections he so deeply desires. Then, a chance encounter on a scientific expedition to the island of Cozumel changes everything. A newfound soul mate reveals a startling coincidence relating to one of his most traumatic episodes from the war, and Carl gets a glimpse of the future he'd always hoped for. Then, just as quickly, he loses contact with her.

In the interim, he finds companionship with a beautiful colleague. The dueling relationship compounds his struggles to come to grips with life, love, and his nagging torturous past. And beyond its beauty, this lovingly crafted period piece is a compelling reminder that the pain of hard choices can often be tempered by nature's miracles.

"I spent fifty years practicing family medicine, and didn't give the notes I had compiled in Mexico a second thought," explains the author. "It was only when searching through an old family trunk that we discovered them, yellow and dimmed, along with a reel of 8mm film I had shot in Mexico. I experienced a rush of inspiration and knew I had to finish what I had started."

Continuing, "The passage of time made my notes almost impossible to read but, just as the phoenix rose from the ashes, I transformed these illegible scribbles into the glorious novel you see today. It's a true fusion of love, torment and – most importantly for readers – an opportunity to explore just how influential often-ignored natural miracles can be. Readers will turn the last page with plenty to think about."
