Edgewater, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/17/2015 -- Interior design firm and online retailer ModernDomicile has announced a program to assist individuals and families affected by a devastating fire that has impacted their community.
On Wednesday, January 21, 2015, a fire broke out in a large apartment complex called Avalon at Edgewater in Edgewater, New Jersey. By the time the fire was extinguished, 240 of the 408 units had been destroyed, leaving more than 500 residents without homes. The affected individuals and families lost everything in the fire, and the damage also forced over 500 additional residents to be permanently or temporarily displaced.
Since the Edgewater fire, the community has mobilized to help the victims of the disaster. The Edgewater Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity, has begun to collect donations to provide disaster relief for victims. The message #EDGEWATERSTRONG is being used to raise awareness about relief efforts. The hashtag is even being featured on t-shirts that are being sold to generate proceeds to donate to families in need.
Local businesses in the Edgewater community are also pitching in to provide assistance for victims, and ModernDomicile has just revealed how they will help those affected. From February 15 to August 15, the small business will be offering complimentary interior design sessions to anyone who was displaced by the fire. Discounts on furniture and home accessories will also be provided. The sales team has even vowed to work with insurance companies directly on the behalf of victims to expedite furniture replacement as needed.

By offering this program, we hope to give back and help our neighbors not just get back on their feet, but to be able to have new homes that they truly love."
