Ultra Electronics DNE Technologies Unveils New Deployable Bandwidth Management Solution to Maximize Warfighter Communications

New solution helps tactical warfighters control bandwidth allocation to adapt to sudden mission changes and integrate communications more efficiently

Quantico, VA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/28/2010 -- - Modern Day Marine Expo – Ultra Electronics DNE Technologies, a manufacturer and provider of solutions for predictable networking and communications, today announced the release of its new solution: ECM – Expeditionary Convergence Module. ECM is a deployment-ready, ruggedized network solution that addresses two of the most pressing network challenges faced by warfighters today: using limited bandwidth more efficiently, and being able to quickly adapt communications resources to respond to sudden changes in the mission.

At any given moment, scores of applications are competing for tactical network bandwidth to get access to key servers and resources. As the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) continues to move toward IP-based technologies, the competition is only getting more fierce for this limited bandwidth. Given the rigorous demands placed on today’s modern-day warfighter, the need to manage this network traffic more efficiently is growing every day.

DNE Technologies’ new ECM solution addresses this issue by providing a simple to use, consolidated control point between the applications used in the field and the transmission devices that connect them to other users. As technical needs and missions change, ECM allows the warfighter to quickly redistribute resources to meet new requirements. Through preconfigured templates and profiles, a warfighter with minimal technical experience can use DNE Technologies’ ECM solution to reprioritize applications to ensure that key data reaches its destination. The equipment set within the ECM chassis provides for tactical connections, power over Ethernet, protocol conversion and Quality of Service (QoS).

“For the first time ever, DNE Technologies is offering a fully integrated Service Delivery System that is intended for immediate deployment to wherever it’s needed most,” said William Gill, President and CEO of DNE Technologies. “With ECM, no additional engineering is necessary. It’s already built into a fully ruggedized chassis and is designed to interface with any network, including legacy equipment. This flexibility helps the warfighter quickly jump into the network’s driver seat and feel comfortable that he or she has control of the bandwidth in their unit.”

About DNE Technologies
For over fifty years, Ultra Electronics DNE Technologies has provided communications devices to the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies throughout the public sector. DNE Technologies manufactures networking equipment that assures quality and predictability of IP services and extends the drive distances of tactical communications devices. This equipment is instrumental to supporting the government’s transition to IP networking, particularly in the tactical environment – where network traffic is restricted by a single satellite or radio signal. DNE Technologies manufactures the AN/FCC-100, the TAC Multiservice Access Concentrator series, PacketAssure Service Delivery Managers and NRZ/CDI/FOM converters, including the CV-MCU2 converter/multiplexer.
