You Look Like Me! The Story of B and P: Empowering New Children's Book Personifies Letters, to Give Confidence-Boosting "Head Start" on Vital Vocabulary

Masterfully crafted by Linda Ward, has taken her dream that has been in the making and transforming through her years of experience to launch the eagerly-awaited ‘I Can Identify’ series of children’s books. This series is filled with concepts that are based in common core ELA literacy competencies for kindergarten to second grade. Each story is fun and adventurous and takes place in Alphabet World, which has a literacy building landscape that will open doors in children’s minds as their literacy skills continue to develop for years to come. This first volume fuses a fun narrative with stunning imagery to invite children into Alphabet World a place where the English language is part of every picturesque scene with sights such as syllable stream, punctuation park, Letter Lake and more. In her opening introduction “Welcome to Alphabet World” children will be introduced to each and every letter personally. From there the fun continues with “You look like me! The story of b and p” ‘B’ and ‘P’ showcase their differences with rhyming aplomb. Ward plans to use some of the proceeds from the book for a most unique cause – the founding of a hiking program for inner-city children to help kid’s foster emotional, physical and mental agility.

Manchester, NH -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/17/2015 -- After spending almost two decades in the education sector with much of that working with children with disabilities of all ranges, Linda Ward has gained a first-hand perspective on just how much children struggle with their vocabulary. However, she has also become acutely aware that struggles with the English language transcend any single group of children to broadly affect all. A mountain climber at heart, Ward has taken it into her own hands to fix things with the release of a compelling new children's book series.

The 'I Can Identify' series will inspire children to identify the difference between letters and have heaps of fun in the process. The design and the story line is full detailed connections, questions and clues that are colorful, interactive and keep children identifying the letters and wanting to study not only the pictures but the text as well. In addition the stories combine common core lessons and use references to expose children to grammatical terms that they may not use for many years, but the connections will already be infused in their minds with the building blocks they acquire at a young age as they transition from books that are colorful and full of pictures to simple black and white letters on a page. Linda's goal is to help create a dynamic new way for all children to relate to words on a page that truly invoke fun and learning together.

Synopsis:

This is a fun tale about b and p recognizing their own differences. It is told in a rhyming fashion.
Throughout the book there are color codes and little detailed connections for the children to make as they really get to know the two letters.

This book, as with all in the series, takes place in Alphabet World where letters live in their own houses, share quirky personalities and are bursting at the brim to help children with their vocabulary. In addition to helping children identify each individual letter,
P is very proud and b is a bouncing bundle of silliness. Want to know what happens? Buy the book!

"I plan to cover the entire alphabet and have three more books planned for the spring of 2015, just in time to build your summer reading program." explains Ward, also the author of 'White Mountain Hikes, Legends, Mysteries and More'. "Learning vocabulary isn't easy for many children and is often taught in rote memorization. I hope to change all that by building the most important blocks first, with questions, clues and imagination that will help a child's brain grow not just store information. I've injected a whimsical air of silliness into the entire thing, which makes children actually want to learn!"

Continuing, "There's also a collective helping culture throughout each story. Children will quickly discover that the letters also need assistance figuring certain things out, and it gives them the confidence they need to see their value in the real world. It's very powerful stuff."

Ward's life dream is to set up a most unique project for children in inner cities, and she plans to use proceeds from the book to fund it.

"I want to get children from the inner cities out hiking. It's going to be a new spin on climbing a physical mountain as a way to also scale and overcome life's challenges. I think children need to learn about the emotional and mental success attained by such feats, and I want them to learn that the challenges from outside are won from within."

Ward needs to sell 250,000 books to see the project come to fruition. With this latest book's potential in the classroom and at home that number is achievable, and interested readers are urged to purchase their copies as soon as possible after publication.

'Welcome to Alphabet World' and 'Take a Walk with B and P' are currently being released to over 6500 book stores around the country.
