Heathrow, Surrey -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/04/2015 -- Businesses are replacing their vans in a new sign of confidence, says Surrey-based dealer

According to figures released this month by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), registrations of new vans were up by over 23 per cent in March of this year.

Despite the uncertainty generated by the general election, businesses are confident enough to look at renewing their vehicles, which suggests a brighter economic outlook and an upturn in consumer confidence. Interestingly, some of the biggest growth came from sales of larger vans in the 2.5-tonne-plus market and in four-wheel-drive vans, which saw registrations almost double over the same period last year.

Looked at by manufacturer, Ford continues its dominance of the UK van market - the company says its commercial sales are at the highest level ever, up 43 per cent on March last year - with Volkswagen second and Vauxhall third.
