East Granby, CT -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/01/2015 -- In a survey by FMCG News (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) has revealed that half of warehouse managers would like to develop their team's skills. This is the first time in recent years that "developing people" has appeared in the top three resolutions, which include devoting more time to their own professional development, supporting the development of the team's skills, and finding ways to become more productive.
Sponsored by Pcdata USA, this week's Picking Perfection noted that training staff trumps chasing turnover. This year there is a much sharper focus on developing people than in previous surveys. The shift in focus from profit to people could be due to business growth and the difficulty recruiting the right talent. Managers say they are faced with recruitment difficulties (72% in 2014, and 66% in 2013), stating they had trouble hiring the right talent. In light of these difficulties managers are choosing to develop the skills of existing staff. Approximately 39% of managers say they do not believe they have the right people in place to achieve their organization's objectives.
