Matawan, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/08/2014 -- Life was easy for Rut Ballesteros. She was a happy student of Archaeology and Anthropology in California. One day, everything changed all of a sudden. She discovered a latent disability that forced her to quit her studies and work, and go back to Spain. Rut spent two years with medical issues, surgeries and a massive depression.

Now, Rut is trying to refocus her life. She wants to do it helping others that, like her, have problems adapting but still don´t want to stop trying and doing. She applied for an internship at the UN Department of Public Information and Outreach, and was offered a position for 4 months. Rut wants to make this experience the first step of her life´s work for those who have not been so lucky. She is planning to continue her studies in International Relations, so she can work on global projects that will help more people.

Rut still has some money saved and she is relying on her family to support this opportunity, for which the estimated cost is about $10,000. She needs to raise at least half the amount via Crowdrise. In addition to money, Rut is also looking to collaborate with someone from New York for a room for those 4 months.

Rut Ballesteros is currently finishing her M.A. degree in Cultural Resources Management (CRM) at Sonoma State University. She has over 12 years of experience in Archaeology and Museum Curation. She has also done her Bachelor Degree in Art History.
