Scytec Cloud Machine Utilization Tracking Makes Pilot Programs Obsolete

Cloud based Scytec DataXchange Process Control System allows for a low entry cost for manufacturers to immediately capture data and use machine monitoring in a small facility or across an enterprise.

Greenwood Village, CO -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/02/2014 -- Typical OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) technologies are costly and start with a pilot program, which prevents many manufacturers from using them. Cloud based Scytec DataXchange Process Control System removes the obstacle of the large upfront investment. With a very low setup fee and low monthly payments based on the quantity of equipment utilizing the system, manufacturers have no reason not to use the technology.

“The model allows for a low entry cost for manufacturers to immediately use data collection across an enterprise for less than a pilot program. DataXchange provides user configurable real-time dashboard for feedback as the data is collected. Collecting and presenting the data in a meaningful format increases the value of the data collected for the stakeholders throughout the organization. Immediagte access to result driven data helps make faster decisions and accelerate workflows,” commented a senior executive with the company.

Scytec DataXchange Process Control System supports collection of data from CNC machines, PLCs and even manual machines. Moreover, temporary loss of Internet connectivity will not result in the loss of any data. In case the terminal running DataXchange locally fails to connect to any of the hosted servers, the data collected would retain locally and uploaded as soon as the internet connection is restored. The customers do need to purchase or maintain any web or database servers.

The system has the ability to track multiple types of cycle time concurrently, and can collect using MTConnect, Fanuc Focas, or use a hardware adapter. The executive added, “The reporting on metrics such as utilization and efficiency can then run any or all of the defined types of cycle time allowing for comparisons and analysis. Spindle time can be compared to spindle time, or 100 percent override time can be compared to machine time run with less than 100% override. Along with supporting the technologies like MTConnect or Fanuc Focas, DataXchange also supports RS-232 serial devices such as barcode scanners and data collection devices such as tablets.”

DataXchange generates several types of charts and reports including Equipment Status Charts, Equipment Trend Charts, Equipment Downtime along with offering Excel and CSV exporting and Email Notifications. The system is powerful and flexible, ensuring accurate collection of data, yet it is easy to use and maintain.
