On the heels of the immense fame he garnered on America’s Got Talent leading to over 4 million fans voting him the winner in 2010, the corporate juggernaut known as the recording industry signed Michael to a recording contract.

For decades, aspiring music artists dreamed of reaching the pinnacle of their career; the recording contact. Expecting only the best from his relationship with Epic Records, Michael didn’t count on his inherent talent as a folksy singer with blues-like undertones to get lost in the shuffle. That’s because his natural style was at odds with the agenda of the music industry itself. What the establishment had planned for Michael’s musical career wasn’t in sync with what he in mind for himself and his millions of fans. Fulfilling his contractual obligations, Michael put his goals on hold to follow through on his commitments to the recording industry.

A Christmas miracle occurred in 2013 when Jamie Borden, the main man behind Studio 824 met up with his old friend Michael Grimm at Jamie’s home in Las Vegas to jam and catch up on old times. In as much as Jamie kept up with Mr. Grimm’s career, their hectic, conflicting schedules kept them out of touch longer than either one of them would have wanted. Christmas Day 2013 changed all that thanks to a cheap acoustic guitar, an out of tune piano, spoons & forks and a book acting as an impromptu drum with a wine glass performing double duty as a cymbal. Their families gather around with song and laughter filling the air for hours. .

Just prior to re-connecting with Michael, Jamie started the lengthy conversion process of transforming designed for videography into a functional music recording studio. While their loved ones worked on their wine, Michael and Jamie took a trip to the studio. Immediately upon entering, energy was in the air. Michael instantly felt at home in this new studio and remarked that it had the creative comfort that he was looking for. Jamie was flummoxed. He’d want nothing more than to record Michael’s next album but knew his studio transformation was a work in process and in no condition to pull off a full-blown musical recording project – at that time.

Jamie began thinking and planning furiously. He made a list of everything he would need to make his recording studio fully operational; computers, microphones and other equipment, some serious remodeling and other hurdles to jump. One thing he noticed he could simply put on the list was – expertise. The expertise to run a recording studio. Jamie was a drummer; not an engineer. As he put together the budget he’d need to fund the full-blown studio he knew he needed he started doing his homework to find out what else he would need to make Michael Grimm’s next album happen.

A few months later lightning struck. Jamie met a talented, experienced sound engineer by the name of Drew Masterpole. Drew was looking to get away from the LA music scene and was on the hunt for a studio he could work with in Las Vegas – Jamie’s neck of the woods. As the saying goes – the rest became history.

Well, almost. Drew and Jamie joined forces and Studio 824 in Las Vegas was ready for prime time. The call was made to Michael and of course he got on board. Now it’s showtime and that’s where all the Michael Grimm fans come in – enter stage left.
