Reseda, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/01/2015 -- With the holidays right around the corner, the team at The Discovery House has been preparing to give back to the community in their own small way. This Thanksgiving, the addiction treatment center, located in Reseda, California, is bringing a little holiday cheer and taking action in their community by donating a full holiday feast to three local families.

According to the USDA, the number of people struggling to eat in the U.S. has remained high since the recession ended in 2009, even as unemployment rates have gone down. As of 2014, 48.1 million Americans live in food insecure homes, 15.3 million of which being children. The heft of these stats are felt each year by the thousands of families in every county across the U.S. that will go without food on Thanksgiving.

Acts of gratitude fuel more acts of gratitude. As a community, The Discovery House believes that by taking action, even by doing something small, we can all help alleviate these statistics and inspire others to help those in need.
