Trends Reveal New Direction for App Downloads in 2015

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/20/2015 -- 3 Months into this year and trends (Google.com/trends, Trendhunter.com) are showing that quizzing gaming apps are back in fashion! After an onslaught of 80s style arcade games in 2014, it seems we have decided to start using our brains again in 2015 as a new wave of quiz games are seeing themselves make it to the top of the App store and GooglePlaystore.

Two solid examples are Trivia Crunch, an app that has been sitting pretty in the top 10 in the US App Store for 6 weeks running now, and the quickly rising popularity of the game 94%, also found on the App Store that shot from 64th place to 22nd overnight this week.

The game concepts are simple, in ' Trivia Crunch' the aim of the game is to answer more general knowledge questions correctly than your opponent. You don't win anything apart from pride and a good feeling that you are some sort of intelligent. The game never comes to a conclusion, you just keep answering questions from different categories such as Geography, Science or Art.

Equally as simple, the basic aim of the '94%' game is to try to figure out what 94% of people answered when asked questions such as 'What's the first thing you do in the morning' or to name 'species of Fish'. You may move up another level only when you have figured out what 94% of the population have answered. The whole concept is not too dissimilar to the old tv show Family Fortunes.

With a sprinkle of nostalgia for old tv shows and the emerging 'nerd' culture spurned on by current cult tv shows such as The Big Bang Theory it is no-wonder why these learning and thinking apps are so popular, we want to feel intelligent again.

However not all is quite what it seems, current trends also show a rise in popularity for cheat sites for these quiz games such as this one for the 94% game answers and here for the Trivia Crunch answers.

The owner of these sites describes how 'The Quiz App will come and go, making way for something new only to make it's way back again. But they will always come back into fashion, and they will come back better and more developed than before'.

The apps Trivia Crush and 94% are both available on iOS devices and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.
