SpartaMatrix’s Chairman Responds to Sept. 11 Discourse Project

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/7/2005 -- The United States has been given a failing grade for the security of the country according to the September 11 Discourse Project, originally called the September 11 Commission. “We are frustrated, all of us, frustrated at the lack of urgency in addressing these various problems,” stated former commission chairman Thomas Kean. Mr. Kean is a Republican member of the commission and former governor of New Jersey.

“What is truly sad is that not the US government, but every government in the world could resolve the issues facing them in terms of securing the world’s transportation system. The technology is available today”, said Dr. Philip Wainwright, Chairman and Founder of SpartaMatrix International, “We have the technology to secure air cargo, ocean cargo, ports… the systems are available if only the government officials will ask the question for innovative companies of the world to provide it now!”

Dr. Wainwright pointed out that SpartaMatrix had approached many of the world’s governments about the use of RFID technology is securing cargo, ports and the intermodal transportation system. “The International Maritime Organization’s (IMO’s) anti-terrorism requirements were to be implemented as of July 1, 2004. But that requirement has been pushed back on a number of occasions”, stated Dr. Wainwright.

The main requirement of the IMO’s new code is that an unbroken audit trail or chain of custody can be demonstrated from when a container is packed all the way to when it is released from the destination port. Wainwright said “SpartaMatrix meets verifiable chain of custody that the global compliance regulations now. And our Solutions include both commercial and military applications.”

“What this means is that by tracking cargo wherever and however it is shipped, keeps the terrorists from utilizing the world’s transportation systems as a delivery system for bombs or weapons of mass destruction. The scenarios of a cargo container containing nuclear material and it blowing up in a port or in the cargo hold of an aircraft and spreading nuclear material over a wide area causes one to realize that casualties could number into the thousands, if not more,” stated Wainwright.

SpartaMatrix has developed a system that provides coverage of cargo through the use of RFID tagging. These tagging systems can be used on containers, cattle, horses, chickens, even inert products such as coal and crude oil. By using its proprietary systems, SpartaMatrix is able to track an item through GPS and tell if it has been tampered with, removed from a specified area or not on a predetermined route and schedule.

The SpartaMatrix systems have an Emergency Rapid Response System (ERR) to tell operators how to resolve the top issues with the items being traced. The ERR will inform personnel of any precautions that must be taken with the products being tracked. An example would be a shipment of magnesium that could not be doused with water if it would catch fire.

“Today's business and political climate demands reliable IT systems that address the ever more complex issue of security and it is time we as citizens of the world demand that our governments begin implementing the tools we have to protect us. Whether we are in our homes, in a jet flying across the face of the world or driving our family home in our car. We need to know now that everything that can be done to provide for our safety is being done, not just sitting on a shelf somewhere gathering dust because some politician hasn’t been given the right gift or a corrupt port manager has been given his bribe,” said the determined Dr. Wainwright.
