Lamar Hunt Jr. Announces Missouri Mavericks Hire New Assistant Coach
Lamar Hunt Jr.'s Missouri Mavericks have hired John-Scott Dickson as their new Assistant Coach for the upcoming ECHL 2015-16 season. Dickson accepted the position on September 10th.
Kansas City, MO -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/29/2015 --Ahead of the 2015-16 season, Lamar Hunt Jr.'s Missouri Mavericks have hired John-Scott Dickson to the Assistant Coach position. This is Dickson's first coaching position, transitioning from on the ice player to coaching staff after four years of playing the left wing position for the Missouri Mavericks.
Dickson was a successful team player for the Missouri Mavericks while they played in the CHL and will now work with the same Head Coach he played under, Richard Matvichuk. The coaching staff has accepted the hiring of Dickson, noting his exceptional hard working attitude as a player and his 75 goals and 79 assists.
The Mavericks had Dickson on staff as a player-coach for much of the 2014-15 season to prepare him for the assistant coaching position. Originally from Canada, Dickson and his wife and children now live nearby the Mavericks home city of Independence in Liberty, MO.
Dickson and the Mavericks team celebrated his hire announcement at the Missouri Mavericks annual Fan Fest event September 12. The new Assistant Coach was featured in a special on stage interview after the announcement.
