STAR Training Workshop Series-Region V
Student Achievement in Reading (STAR) is not a reading curriculum. It is a comprehensive Tool Kit and training package built upon evidence-based reading instructional strategies. STAR will help adult education teachers and administrators improve reading outcomes among intermediate level learners.

FLC's 7th Annual Leadership Institute
Designed for directors and program coordinators of non-profit adult literacy organizations, this two day institute will feature workshops and discussions on issues of common interest such as strategic planning, program capacity building, and fund development, just to name a few. It will also provide an opportunity to network and share promising practices with other literacy practitioners.

CASAS Certification
CASAS is a full day training specifically addressing the implementation of CASAS within an ESOL program. It is designed for the new teacher or new to administrating CASAS. Included in this training is a section on what is used in Florida's programs. Participants are entered into a data base as trained and certified as CASAS test administrators.

Region II: Digital Citizenship: Responsible Behavior in a Digital Society
This workshop will introduce you to the concept of becoming a Digital Citizen and introduce the Nine elements that make up a Digital Citizenship program. We'll discuss issues like proper email etiquette, communicating in a digital society, and buying and selling on the Internet, legal issues dealing with copyright and plagiarism and many others. Come prepared to learn!

Acquire a more encompassing view of data, data use, and how NRS data is just a piece of the Florida Adult Education data system; 2. Develop trust in the quality of your data; 3. Be prepared to collect assessment data, and learn how to utilize the new data for program improvement; 4. Build a Data Quality Learning Community. ELL Literacy Tutor Training Workshop
This one-day English Language Learner Workshop is offered to anyone interested in becoming a volunteer tutor of adults whose first language is not English, and who want to improve their English speaking skills. No foreign language skills or prior teaching experience is required. Workshop objectives include learning conversation techniques, viewing teaching materials available for use, and giving participants the confidence that they can teach someone how to speak English. After the training, you will be prepared to volunteer at the Calhoun County Public Library Learning Center, the Jackson County Public Library Learning Center or other local programs. Tutor Training Workshop (St. Petersburg)
This 10-hour workshop provides instruction in ESOL and the Laubach Method used for teaching an adult how to read. At the end of the workshop, tutors are certifies as ESOL and/or Laubach tutors and are assigned to a school location with a student in the St. Petersburg or Seminole areas.
