The latest entrant to it is the $23B acquisition of Heinz. This would be the biggest food company deal ever in the food industry when debt is excluded from the total. The rankings from data provider Dealogic also exclude spinoffs and beverage companies.
The previous biggest food company deal was Mars Inc.'s acquisition of Wrigley in 2008 for $21.9 billion.
Danone produces and distributes food products in France and internationally. The company operates through four divisions: Fresh Dairy Products, Waters, Baby Nutrition, and Medical Nutrition.
