Gelatin and bone glues are collagen derived from animal sources such as bone and skins. Gelatin and its derivatives are obtained from porcine skin and bovine hide. Bone glues are obtained from the bovine bone and dried swim bladder of fish. The manufacturing process for gelatine includes inspection and cuttings, degreasing and roasting, acid and alkaline treatments, boiling, evaporating and grinding, flavouring and coloring and packaging. On the other hand, production process of bone glues comprises of the procurement of animal bones from slaughterhouses, tanneries, and meat packing companies and their subjection to washing, boiling under pressure, de-mineralization and extraction of collagen, and drying. These are used in pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, photography, breweries industry and book publishing. Gelatine is used for making capsules and for vitamin embedding and bone glues is used as an adhesive. Soft and hard gelatin capsules are two important types of gelatin capsules which are used in pharmaceuticals.

Petroleum coke or petcoke, a solid rock material is a byproduct of crude oil refining and other cracking processes. About 80% of the petroleum coke produced is used as energy source in various industries. Cement kiln and power plants are the chief end users. Another prominent use of petroleum coke is in manufacturing of metal, where it is used to manufacture anodes for EAFs (Electric Arc Furnaces). The niche applications of petroleum coke includes production of titanium dioxide for paint and coloring industry, feedstock for coke oven batteries, to produce urea and ammonium nitrate for paper industry and fertilizer, etc. High sulphur, low grade petroleum coke (fuel grade) is generally used as a source of energy, while low sulphur, high grade petroleum coke is used for other uses by the manufacturers. Petroleum coke is a cost effective alternative to coal with higher calorific value, lower ash content.
